Beginning the Month on Our Knees: The 6–6 Fast

Why we set aside the first day of every month to fast and pray together — and how you can join in, wherever you are.

On the first day of every month, women across our community set aside food and distractions from 6 to 6 to seek God together. It has become one of the most precious rhythms in our sisterhood.

Why the first day?

Giving God the first of something is an act of trust. Before the month's busyness takes over, we pause to surrender our plans, our families and our hearts to Him. It sets the tone for everything that follows.

”
Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free…
Isaiah 58:6 (KJV)

How to take part

  • ✦Choose your fast prayerfully — a full fast, a partial fast or a fast from something like social media.
  • ✦Prepare a short list of prayer points for yourself, your family and the women around you.
  • ✦Use the time you would spend eating to read Scripture and pray.
  • ✦Drink plenty of water, and consult your doctor if you have any health concerns.

Fasting is not about earning God's favour — it is about making room for Him. And there is something powerful about knowing that sisters all around you are on their knees at the same time.

Grow with us — there's a seat for you.
